Szegedi Kosza Alice Torella was born on 1980 in Mures county, Transylvania, Romania. She spent her
childhood in a small village near Targu Mures (Marosvásárhely), in Campenita de Mures (Mezõfele),
where reedknitting has been a tradition for many centuries. She attended school in Targu Mures, and
after the family has moved to Sibiu (Nagyszeben), she continued at the Octavian Goga highschool..
Even in early childhood she was discovered to have a special skill for reedknitting, and there were signs
that her imagination goes above the traditional knitting techniques and artistical conceptions. Her unique
artistic world is shown in her famous reedstatues, which are the lyrical combinations of traditionallity and
modernity, and which lifted the craft of reedknitting in the world of fine arts.

The artist's works have been awarded many times at domestic and international level, as well: she
received twice first place at the Romanian Craftsman's Annual Competition, her works were recognized
in 1999 at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival at Washington D.C., etc. She has had numerous expositions
at domestic and international level as well (ex. Budapest, Washington, Japan, Germany, France and "Caravan Festival" in Toronto).

Torella's works vary from wall ornaments through special clothes to unique jewels, and she guarantees
with her name the quality of many useful reed objects.
